At Harbour Care Centre in Portishead, life is about more than care — it’s about connection with community, nature and the local waterfront that makes this lovely coastal town special. Our care home is located just a short walk from Portishead Marina and the Harbourside Development, and residents regularly make the most of this beautiful setting with gentle walks by the marina and even the occasional fishing activity.

Residents love spending time outdoors exploring the harbour area. One recent trip involved a spot of crab fishing — an activity that gave residents a chance to enjoy some sea air, talk about holidays gone by, and share laughs together by the water’s edge.
Photographs showed happy moments where residents took part in this simple, sociable and refreshing pastime that connects them with the sights and sounds of the local marina.
Walking along the marina has also become a regular outing for our residents, encouraging physical activity and wellbeing. We now hold regular walks around the marina which is close by and popular with residents. Family members and carers also enjoy a bracing walk in the fresh sea breeze to watch boats, birds and harbour life.
These waterfront excursions aren’t just about exercise — they’re a chance for residents to connect socially, reminisce about familiar places, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of being outdoors. Whether chatting as they stroll or stopping to fish and watch the tide, these marina activities support residents’ mood, mobility and overall wellbeing.
At Harbour Care Centre, we believe in embracing local life and making daily experiences meaningful — whether that’s a walk by the Portishead Marina or a fun fishing moment with friends.
