Our residents enjoy going to the local Portishead swimming pool

Residents and staff from Harbour Care Centre in Portishead had a wonderfully refreshing outing this week when they visited the local swimming baths at Parish Wharf Leisure Centre. The trip was met with excitement from everyone involved, as it gave residents a chance to enjoy gentle activity, social time, and happy memories in the water. Many of the group donned their swimwear and, with the supportive carers at hand, spent time floating, moving in the pool, and recalling their past swimming experiences with big smiles.

The warmth of the pool and the inclusive atmosphere made it an uplifting experience for all ages and abilities. Residents chatted, laughed, and encouraged each other, with some delighting in simply standing in the water and feeling the buoyancy. For several residents, this visit brought back cherished memories of times spent in baths or pools earlier in life—sparking conversation and plenty of laughter.

After swimming, the group relaxed together, enjoying refreshments and sharing stories of their favourite moments in the pool. The centre’s activities team said it was one of the most joyful outings in recent weeks, reinforcing the value of community engagement and active living.
