Nursing Care
in Portishead BS20

Who is it for?

For families in Portishead and the wider north Somerset and Bristol area, Harbour Care Centre offers a vital local nursing care service: a “forever home” where residents never have to move simply because their health needs change. Under the leadership of Manager Wayne Price, the home has re-established a robust nursing provision, ensuring that care can evolve seamlessly from residential support to more complex nursing and end-of-life care.

The heart of our clinical expertise resides in the Sycamore Suite on the second floor, a specialised space designed for residents with more complex healthcare needs. What truly sets our care apart is our commitment to a permanent, dedicated team. As Renata, our lead nurse with two decades of experience explains, Harbour Care Centre feels like a “family,” not just a workplace. This is something that Renata has carefully nurtured since she arrived a few years ago to help our Manager Wayne Price, turn around the fortunes of the home.

By avoiding the use of temporary or agency staff, our full-time nurses build respectful, long-term relationships with residents. This personal knowledge is vital; it allows our team to instinctively spot even the slightest changes in a resident’s health, ensuring proactive and precise care.

Our fees are highly competitive with those from the Bristol area, and we feel, with our coastal setting, that we provide a highly attractive alternative to nursing homes in Bristol in terms of both cost and amenities.

Continuity of our staff

Many of the carers on the second floor Sycamoure suite are actually fully qualified nurses from places like India, so at any one time there is a real experience and expertise within the home.

Many of our carers and nurses live on-site on the top floor of the home and have been working for Wayne and his senior team for a long while now. Our residents get to see familiar faces and form bonds of trust with our staff, who, in turn, learn how to keep our residents happy and as healthy as possible. It’s an arrangement that works really well and is quite unique.

Conditions we manage

Our nurses are trained to deliver high-quality, person-centered support, blending clinical expertise with a compassionate nature, to enhance every resident’s quality of life. By prioritising continuity through a “no agency” policy, our nurses ensure that care is provided by familiar faces who understand each individual’s health needs and history.
