For our monthly pancake breakfast, we went for an under the sea theme this month, lovely fresh fruit with syrup, and a lot of care and attention. I love these. They are nutrional and fun. I think the father of fruit in art was this chap, Arcimboldo. This chap had a thing for fruit as you can see but he needs to brush up on his skills if he is going to compete with our Pitkerro studio!

Someone has got their finger on the button! Yesterday, we had a small Bingo session, which is good for our collective concentration and gets us all together for some fun. As you can see, concentration levels are impressively high. Did you know that Bingo has its own language? Of course you did. And did you know that in bingo lingo 26 is called 'Half a crown', due to half a crown in old money being 2 shillings and sixpence? Well you do now! Well done to the lucky winner!

Yesterday we enjoyed making some bread, rolling out the dough and baking it in time for our soup at lunch. What a talented bunch. You could see that this was something many of our residents had done before!

Today we celebrated the couples that call Pitkerro home. How lovely it was to see our 4 couples togther at a special Valentine's lunch that we put on for them. How wonderful. In picture 1 (main picture) Our Resident George has been married to his lovely wife Kim for 49 years. They met in 1973 at a disco in Kirriemuir where George was a bouncer at the time. In 2 (top right) George and his lovely wife Marion met on a blind date in 1962 they married in 1964. It was love at first sight, last year they celebrated 60years of marriage In 3 Mary has been married to her wonderful husband Tam for 58 years. They met at a dance hall and danced the night away together. In 4 (botton right) Betty met Ernie at the Palais in Dundee in 1959 and married him in 1962. This year they have been married 63 years.

Promise Day is a special day celebrated as part of Valentine's Week. It's a day for people to make heartfelt promises to their loved ones, whether it's a romantic partner, friend, or family member. These promises can be about love, trust, support and is a way to express commitment and strengthen bonds. We made our promises and will be digging these up next year to see how we fared.

This kind of 'thank you' is why we all love the job we do. George lives with us and his wife is a regular guest. Thank you both so much, from all our care team. The pleasure is all ours.

To celebrate this Valentine's Day, we've been busy making gifts and thinking about what love really means. We decided that it's not about big, showy displays, but the little things: a warm smile, a listening ear, and consistent acts of kindness. Whether you're giving or receiving, these small gestures are what truly matter. So this Valentine's Day why not join us in showing our appreciation for eachother. Share the love with those around you, just as we shall be at Pitkerro.

Helping out… Our residents love being independent and helping out each other. Earlier today Isabella and Mary wanted to help out with our daily fruit platters for all the residents. Thanks ladies 👏

Ladies that lunch 🥗 Yesterday, our ladies from Pitkerro, were ladies that lunched. We enjoyed a wee outting to boars Rock pub. They all had a lovely time and will definitely be back for another tipple or two. 🍷

Thank you Sadia is a first year nursing student who was out on placement with the CHEF. Last week we were able to support her learning while she spent 4 days with us. Our residents aPitkerro Care Centrere really enjoyed her time with us. Wilma gave her a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates to wish her good luck on her student journey and career.

Out and about We went shopping for goodies over to our local Iceland, all residents picked and paid for their chosen items.

Scalextric Our new scalextric set is going down a storm with our residents. This afternoon we had Wallace and Baxter residents in a race off.

#kungheifatchoi Assistant cook Sumalee helped our residents celebrate Chinese new year, by creating an authentic Chinese meal from scratch. From the homemade prawn crackers/springrolls to a fantastic stir fry. She made everything and the residents really enjoyed it and they would like this a monthly treat.

Hudson Christmas Breakfast Each month we celebrate our Canadian heritage by having a pancake inspired breakfast. This month, seeing as we’re in December was Christmas themed. The pancakes were delicious 😋

Dominoes This afternoon at Pitkerro Care Centre we’ve had a need to break into some old pub games and today the ladies choose a game of dominoes. It keeps the mind active and those fingers dexterous. I wonder what we’ll be playing tomorrow?

Light Festival Our residents enjoyed being a part of Loy Krathong on Friday evening. We had made the lotus flowers earlier in the week, we then lit them and floated them on our indoor pond. #loykrathong #dundee

Well bless my soul…. We had a visit this afternoon at Pitkerro Care Centre from our staff members 10 week old kittens and our residents loved it. They loved it so much that the staff member let them name one, so we now have a kitten named Elvis!!! 🎶
