Purposeful Dementia Care
in Sandiacre NG10
Who is it for?
If you are searching for specialist dementia care in Sandiacre, then Sandiacre Court Care Centre offers a uniquely flexible and compassionate dementia care community. Located conveniently for families in the Erewash Valley area, drawing residents from local towns such as Stapleford, Long Eaton and Bramcote, our dementia care covers a wide range of dependencies, helping residents live a good life.
Our Sandiacre care home has a dedicated dementia suite, Robin, which is designed to support residents living with Alzheimer’s, vascular, and more advanced dementia. Residents with milder dementia reside on our other floors, mixing freely with our other residents.
What sets the dementia care at Sandiacre Court apart is its rejection of “regimental routines.” Residents are encouraged to follow their own natural rhythms, such as waking later and dining at their own pace. We have found that fulfilment often comes from participation in simple tasks such as polishing the cutlery or dusting the ornaments. Our cutlery positively gleems! This person-centred philosophy ensures a relaxed atmosphere that reduces stress and promotes sense of purpose amongst our residents.
Live a good life, well.
Sandiacre Court is well-regarded for its innovative approach to social engagement across our dementia services. Our staff and “resident buddies” encourage peers to join spontaneous activities such as cinema clubs, dominoes, and card games, helping newer residents settle quickly into the reassuring routine of home life. For those with limited mobility, the team prioritises one-to-one reminiscence and ensures residents are moved to communal areas for meals to prevent isolation.
Sandiacre Court also maintains a high level of staff consistency. Familiar faces help de-escalate behavioural challenges and build deep, trusting relationships. This stability is vital for residents transitioning from mental health units or those requiring sensitive palliative care and end-of-life care.

Our 'life story' approach to dementia care in Sandiacre
We work with residents and their families to understand the lives our residents have led and use this knowledge to get to know each resident’s history and preferences. Such knowledge can also help calm residents and ensure they are present. We call this our Life Story Work.
By collaborating closely with families to understand a resident’s history, career, and personal preferences, staff can deliver a more person-centred care that respects each individual’s unique identity. In our Sherwood dementia suite, purpose is found in the “activity of life” rather than just passive entertainment. Sandiacre Court Care Centre emphasises that mundane, day-to-day tasks – such as housework, gardening, or putting away laundry – are what truly make a person’s day feel fulfilled. Residents are actively encouraged to participate in the daily running of the home, whether assisting our housekeeping team, setting out the tables, or engaging with visitors.
