Heatwave no match for Portishead care home residents

Haven Lodge hosts celebration of Moroccan culture as temperatures soar

Plucky residents at a Portishead care home refused to let the heatwave get in the way of a long-planned party to celebrate the start of the summer holidays last week.

Despite soaring temperatures across south-west England, staff at Haven Lodge held a party for residents with an appropriate – given the temperatures – Moroccan theme on Thursday 19 July, as part of the first in a series of ‘Around the World’ celebrations at the home.

The tastes and smells of Casablanca and Marrakech were present and correct, with food and sweets laid out for residents and guests, and a belly dancing demonstration and Moroccan music adding to the exotic scene.

Haven Lodge regularly hosts special events for residents and staff are planning a series of occasions that will celebrate the cultures and cuisines of different countries.
