Last month, we held a farewell tea party for resident Mary Holland. Mary had been with us for a few weeks of respite care before relocating to Berkshire to be with her family. Residents and friends joined us for the occasion, enjoying the opportunity to spend quality time and laugh with one another. The delicious jam tarts and cakes were also a highlight!
Mary had been living at the retirement village in Portishead and, once she was unable to live on her own, she chose to move to Harbour Residential due to positive reviews of our high quality care and community feel.
Following the event, Mary spoke of the friends she has made at Harbour Residential and how she will miss them. On her last day, Mary wrote a care review in which she said “I wish I made the decision to come to Harbour a long time ago, the staff are very good and caring. I would certainly recommend Harbour.” Mary’s daughter, Sue Edgell, also thanked Harbour staff for supporting her mother’s recovery and caring for her before the family reunion.
Samuel Okello, Home Manager, offered his reflections on the event. He commented that “Mary’s story confirms why Harbour Residential Care Centre is a community service provider of care. I am pleased that we have made a difference to a family. We invite all people in the local community to visit us and seek advice.”
